Website Design
The council serves the civil parish of East Bergholt which, as you can see from the photographs above, enjoys a unique setting with beautiful countryside both within and surrounding the village.
The old website served different roles in the local community by providing community events information as well as providing statutory data through notices and committee documents and other council information. The new website needed to build on this functionality in a modern framework and allow the council clerks a quick and easy to use document management solution which is integrated within the WordPress framework.
Keep future management simple
Research
We initiated the project by conducting research into existing solutions to the project requirements.
One of the key requirements was to build the site using ‘off the shelf’ software wherever possible. This involved us evaluating software and functionality and presenting our findings as part of the project feedback.
Adjust to specific requirements
Bespoke Development
We initially considered a document management plugin but ultimately decided to develop a bespoke solution to meet the council’s specific needs.
This custom solution includes a comprehensive content-level search feature, enabling users to search within documents for precise information. We worked in conjunction with EBPC clerks to ensure that they could quickly and easily drag and drop files into a fully managed and scalable bespoke document management system.

The Design
The parish council desired a very active role in the design process and greatly influenced the final outcome of the website.
After evaluating various design options through committee meetings and community feedback, we finalised the current design.
This design thoughtfully balances familiar elements from other government websites with unique features specific to East Bergholt.
The goal was to create a welcoming and functional site that reflects the village’s individuality while providing ease of navigation and accessibility for all visitors.

We continue to provide numerous web services to East Bergholt Parish Council.

It provides full maintenance, content support and security scanning, offering peace of mind to users.
